• Security Breach on 14 October 2019

    December 3, 2019 | by Everingham Lawyers

Our computer system was the subject of a cyber-attack which was identified on 14 October 2019. The hackers encrypted all of our client’s (previous and current) electronic files from approximately 2000 which includes all documents, correspondence and emails. The files potentially held information about financial details, tax file numbers, identity information, contact information and health information.

Our IT Advisors have told us it is unlikely that any information from such data base was taken. Therefore, we do not believe any of our client’s information has been compromised and the hacker’s intent was to encrypt the files so as to demand a ransom. A ransom was demanded but not paid. Our business has operated normally from about 24 hours after the raid.

If you have any concerns we suggest you contact your computer technician or contact Paul Everingham or Amanda Clarke of our office on 5495 8888.
