Powers of Attorney
An Enduring Power of Attorney is a document which allows person or persons to make decisions on your behalf when you no longer have capacity to manage your own affairs. An Enduring Power of Attorney allows individuals to make decisions regarding personal health care as well as financial affairs for the principal. If you are over the age of 18 years and not labouring under a mental disability or impairment, you are able to make an Enduring Power of Attorney.
In the event that you become mentally incapacitated it may be necessary for the Adult Guardian and Administration Tribunal to appoint guardians and administrators for your affairs. This of course takes time, costs money and can create an unnecessary burden for family members in your hour of need.
